Hydroxypropyl Methylcellulose (HPMC) or hypromellose is a derivatives of Methyl cellulose ethers . It is a white or off-white fibrous or granular cellulose ether powder. It is currently the cellulose ethers with the best performance in the world, integrating thickening, suspending, dispersing, emulsifying and stabilizing. Hydroxypropyl methyl cellulose (HPMC) is non-toxic, easy to use, and easily soluble in water. It is a polyanion in aqueous solution and has unique physical properties. Features:

1. Solubility: It is almost insoluble in absolute ethanol, ether and acetone, and dissolves into a clear or slightly turbid colloidal solution in cold water. It can be dissolved in some organic solvents, and can also be dissolved in a mixed solvent of water-organic solvents.

2. Salt resistance: It is relatively stable in aqueous solutions when metal salts or organic electrolytes are present.

3. Surface activity: it can be used as colloid protectant, emulsifier and dispersant.

4. PH-stability: PH value is relatively stable in the range of 3.0~11.0. The viscosity of the aqueous solution is hardly affected by acid or alkali.

Uses of HPMC:

Hydroxypropyl methylcellulose(HPMC) can be used as a thickener, dispersant, emulsifier, and film-forming agent, etc. Construction Grade HPMC products can be used in daily chemicals, electronics, synthetic resins, construction and coatings, pharmaceutical grade HPMC can be used in tablet coating, etc., and food grade HPMC can be used as various food additives.

 

HPMC Guide Instructions:

1. Hot water method: Add 1/3 or 2/3 of the water in the container and heat it to above 80. The initial hydroxypropyl methyl cellulose(HPMC) can be evenly dispersed in the hot water, and then add the remaining amount of cold water to In the hot water slurry, cool after stirring.

2. Powder mixing method: mix the hydroxypropyl methyl cellulose(HPMC) powder with a larger amount of other powder ingredients, thoroughly disperse it by dry mixing, and then add water to dissolve it.

3. Organic solvent wetting method: first disperse or wet the hydroxypropyl methyl cellulose (HPMC) with an organic solvent, and then add water to dissolve it.
