Hydroxypropyl methylcellulose has thickening, binding, dispersing, emulsifying, film-forming, suspending, adsorbing, gelling, surface active, moisture-retaining and protective colloid properties. The range of applications is very wide.
Fineness
The fineness of hydroxypropyl methylcellulose generally has 80 mesh and 100 mesh. The finer the fineness, the faster the dissolution, generally speaking, the better. Usually, vertical reactors produce thinner products than horizontal reactors.
Transmittance
Dissolve hydroxypropyl methylcellulose (HPMC) in water to form a transparent liquid. Look at its light transmittance. The greater the light transmittance, the better, indicating that there are less insolubles in it.
proportion
Moderate size is better. If the specific gravity is too large or too small, it may be the result of poor control during the production process.
Exterior
Pure hydroxypropyl methylcellulose is visually fluffy and has a low bulk density, ranging from 0.3-0.4g/ml; adulterated HPMC has better fluidity and feels heavier, which is obviously different from the genuine product in appearance. The appearance of some special-purpose cellulose is also very different from that of common specifications, and specific products are analyzed in detail.
aqueous solution
Pure HPMC aqueous solution is clear, high light transmittance, water retention rate ≥ 90%; adulterated HPMC aqueous solution is turbid, and the water retention rate is difficult to reach 70%
BaiDu
Although whiteness cannot determine whether HPMC is easy to use, and if whitening agents are added during the production process, it will affect its quality. However, most of the good products have good whiteness.
